Photoexcitation and stimulated emission

This simulation shows how quantum systems interact with optical fields. Important concepts, such as photon absorption, stimulated emission, and the selection rule, emerge from this salient, dynamic simulation. Compared with the traditional teaching approach in which these concepts are typically introduced as they are, the interactive simulations in this activity offer students opportunities to "discover" these phenomena themselves. The knowledge and intuition they gain from them may help them develop a better understanding about the spooky quantum world.
